Whitt Special (5A)
The NFB solar Boondock system
The NFB is powered by the 120 W solar panel, which is designed to run a 48 amp hour battery
When there is plenty of daylight, the solar panel collects enough power to store in the NFB battery a charge every day to run your LED light in the night for night fishing.
So how this works is the light whether it’s sunlight or cloud light gives the solar panel energy from the light cells reacting creating current that’s all adjusted inside the panel. The current transfers to collector .
Collecter sends the power on to the battery to store as the collector is engaged. Collector monitors the battery the solar panel current and voltage. Once the battery reaches a full charge. The solar collector will show on LED control screen voltage that is equal to a full charge indicating the NFB solar panel is complete on charge.
The NFB through the Photo Cell control powers on lights at night as soon as it becomes dark. LED light runs until either 1) the battery runs out of power or 2) until the photocell detects daylight the next morning.
So the key here is if you come out in the morning and your light is off and it’s still dark …your battery ran out of power and turned your light off.
If you come out in the morning and the light is on, your battery, still has power and probably will turn off based on the Photo Cell detecting light.
- So the key here is have your solar panel sized 120 watt to charge your battery 30ah , which is sized to use a light at a low enough amperage to run all night. 30 ah with 20 watt 1.5 amp..used per hour.
- Unless you want your lights to run from dark plus approximately five hours… then you would want to size your solar panel 120 watt with 30-50 ah battery and use 50- 100 watt LED light at 5-6 amps per hour )
